WINNERS ANNOUNCED

Netley Sailing Club and the RYA are crowned winners of the Haven Knox-Johnston Boating Marketplace Survey’s most nominated Club and Association prize. The individual winner, picked from a draw of all survey entrants, is Glynn Snelling from Cambridge.

CLUB WINNER

The Club winners, Netley Sailing Club, who have received £1000 prize have thriving dinghy and catamaran fleets. Based on Southampton water in the Royal Victoria Country Park with around 500 members, Netley provides opportunities for both families and individuals sailing at all levels. Having just completed their new Club House and with an impressive calendar of upcoming events they are going from strength to strength. Haven Knox-Johnston is proud to be able to support the club and hope that the prize money will help improve the offering to members even further.

ASSOCIATION WINNER

The RYA needs little introduction being synonymous with all on water activities and their sheer number of nominations shows how much boaters across the UK appreciate their overarching support for boating. From encouraging non boaters to “Get On The Water” initiative, the vast training and development options provided, the ongoing support for racing at all levels and The Green Blue’s work in raising awareness of the environmental impact of boating, the RYA have an invaluable impact on all aspects of life on the water.

The Green Blue has been chosen as the recipient project to receive the Association prize of £1000 and the Haven Knox-Johnston team look forward to seeing the positive impact that the prize has.

Kate Fortnam, The Green Blue Campaign Manager commented “The Green Blue is delighted to receive this prize! It will enable us to provide our new volunteers with more sustainable team wear for when they are delivering environmental outreach in their local communities”.

INDIVIDUAL WINNER

As the individual prize winner drawn at random, Glynn Snelling receives £1000 prize which he has chosen to put towards a new engine for his Viking cruiser, from Cambridge Outboards. Glynn and his family have enjoyed many years cruising on the River Cam and the new engine will enable them to continue to appreciate the joy of getting away from the City and enjoying tranquility afloat for many years to come.

Paul Knox-Johnston, Business Development Manager of Haven Knox-Johnston commented “Over 1,500 completed surveys have been submitted providing a snap shot of the current state of the market place and great feedback on how we can improve our product offering. It was pleasing to see responses from all types of boater, from the coast to the inland waterways, spanning the length and breadth of the UK. To award the three prizes, giving back to the community during these difficult times is the icing on the cake.”

Please note: As part of a deal which completed in January 2021 Aston Lark Limited bought the Boat Insurance business from MS Amlin and decided to change the business back to the well-loved brand Haven Knox-Johnston.
